I've had a love of reading and writing my entire life. I've always known I wanted to be a writer or an editor, and I've been able to make that possible in many different ways. My dream during my younger years was to be like Daniel Jackson from Stargate, with his expertise in multiple languages (why yes, I am very much a nerd). To that end I earned a Bachelor's in Linguistics from the University of Utah and I am TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) certified, though unfortunately the only language I'm fluent in is English.
Up until now my career has been solely freelance, and that's really been a boon as we've started our family and settled in to our (hopefully) forever home. I've written, edited, and transcribed for many different clients, from print shops to retired (and bored) millionaires. I've enjoyed every minute of it. I've written satire blogs and regular product descriptions, diecast model car blogs, and medical summaries, but my personal favorite is writing with a comfortable tone for lifestyle and modern-voiced jobs.
Quite honestly I spend most of my free-time, when I have it, catching up on sleep. Otherwise I love listening to audiobooks whenever I get a chance - My personal favorite of late was The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg. As stated before, I also have an avid love of reading, which I justify because reading is an important part of keeping my writing skills up-to-date! I'm a born-and-raised video gamer with a particular fondness for Nintendo games of most any variety. I have a swiss army knife of random hobbies and skills that keep me on track for becoming the widely romanticized “Renaissance Man.'“
My name is Katie, and I hope you'll have fun keeping up with what I have going on. I love to write almost as much as I love to read. Writing and editing are passions of mine that I would love to turn into a full-time career.
Being a working mom can be tough, but with the help of my heartthrob husband, my adorable children, and my loving family and friends, I think I’ll be okay.
